PROJECT: The Adprentice

DESCRIPTION: IACT College wanted a campaign to attract new high school graduates into their creative communication courses.

CHALLENGE: Students and parents alike tend shy away from the creative industry due to an ill-informed perception of what it actually does (they think we design ‘50% off signs).

SOLUTION:To set the perception straight, we produced an online reality TV show called The Adprentice. It was a competition to find Malaysia’s hottest young creative talent and get them started with a promising career in advertising with a grand prize of RM20,000 and a full scholarship to IACT College.

RESULTS: Students sent audition videos to the Adprentice website and 20 hopefuls were chosen, they then took a week-long crash course in the fundamentals of creative advertising and completing daily projects for real clients.

They were shortlisted to 5 challengers who went on to each come up with an idea for IACT College’s 2013 campaign. The twist was they were also competing with IACT’s current ad agency, Lucideas, in this final challenge.

THE WEBISODES: The competition not only showed the students what the ad industry was about behind the scenes, but the many Malaysians (skeptical parents included) who tuned in online to follow it.
